My story
Dr Laura Papillo, MBBS, BMedSci (Hon)
Dr Laura Papillo IMG Consulting was founded from a passion for helping others achieve their goals. After graduating my MBBS from the University of Melbourne and working as a medical doctor in Victorian hospitals, I wanted a change from clinical medicine. For the next three years, I lived abroad and taught English as a foreign language. On return to Melbourne, I worked as an Assistant Editor on health textbooks and role-played with the Australian Medical Council clinical examinations.
These experiences compounded my desire to make a meaningful difference to the lives of other professionals. I had first-hand knowledge of the difficulties of living in a foreign country and communicating in a new language. I worked alongside AMC examiners, reflecting on the successes of candidates and the challenges they faced. During a discussion with an AMC examiner, an idea was born: my unique combination of skills and experiences paired with my passion to help others could assist international medical graduates to improve their cross-cultural communication skills and show the best representation of themselves to prospective employers and the Medical Board of Australia.
I have had vast success assisting clients prepare professional CVs, succeed at job interviews, and achieve registration with AHPRA. I hope to be of assistance and support to you too.
